TD-LTE, also named LTE TDD, is Long Term Evolution in TDD mode. It not only provides higher data rates and larger capacity but also decreases service delay. Therefore, TD-LTE has the ability to provide more satisfied real time and high speed services. Operators will benefit from TD-LTE on reducing operational costs and attracting high end subscribers.
Sufficient TDD Spectrum Resource
According to ITU allocation, TD-LTE can use sufficient spectrum resources. Today frequency resource is increasingly overcrowded in many countries, and it is even more difficult to apply the paired spectrums. TD-LTE brings new opportunities to network operators as it need not paired spectrum resource and can be operated on dispersed frequency bands flexibly. Furthermore, the global roaming of TD-LTE will be achieved easily because many countries are allocated with the same TDD bands.
Flexible TDD Configuration
The TD-LTE system demonstrates distinct advantages in supporting asymmetric data services. In the TD-LTE frames, the number of uplink timeslots and downlink timeslots can be flexibly configured to meet different service types. When the downlink traffic is bigger than the uplink traffic, more downlink timeslots will be configured; when the traffic is balanced on both links, the number of uplink and downlink timeslots will be evenly allocated.
ZTE is actively involved in research and development of TD-LTE from the first beginning. Now, ZTE holds the leading position in TD-LTE field based on its accumulation of wireless telecommunications. Meanwhile, ZTE also devotes itself to the establishment of 3GPP LTE standards. ZTE is in-depth cooperating with global mainstream operators to promote the development of TD-LTE industry.
End to end Solution
ZTE can provide End to End TD-LTE solution, including EPC, eUTRAN, Terminals, and Chipsets. ZTE is the first company completed the China Mobile (CMCC) TD-LTE field tests and submitted the result to LSTI (Long Term Evolution/System Architecture Evolution Trial Initiative). ZTE and Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) also achieves the No.1 in the industry to jointly submit LTE TDD Interoperability Development Testing (IODT) report to the LSTI organization, which was confirmed by LSTI on September 1st 2009.
Uni-RAN – the solution of evolution and convergence
ZTE’s Uni-RAN solution is based on the SDR technology. It is the Uni-RAN solution, which supports 2G (CDMA/GSM) + TD-LTE and 3G (TD-SCDMA/UMTS) + TD-LTE, that simplifies the network evolution and convergence. Multiple systems could be converged as a single network with the unified hardware and unified OMC. Not only GSM/TD-SCMA operators but also CDMA and UMTS operators can achieve the high-speed, green, converged TD-LTE network with significantly reduced TCO.
